You don't need to be able to chop like a chef to be a good cook, but learning how to use knives properly in the kitchen will make cooking more efficient and more enjoyable. This half-day course will show you how to use and maintain your knives as well as advice on making the most of the basic cook's knife set including sharpening, chopping, filleting and other techniques. As well as learning how to chop vegetables we will also teach you how to fillet fish and joint pieces of chicken. There will also be a chance to learn how to carve roasted chicken. You don’t need to have any previous cooking experience to attend this course.

The course will run from 11.00am until 1.00pm and includes practical and demonstration cookery sessions and refreshments. All the ingredients, equipment and the recipes for the day will be provided.
